stones taught me to fly
love, it taught me to lie
life taught me to die
so it's not hard to fall
when you float like a cannonball

Does this remind you of Kennedy and Steeles-ish?

Heh...I played a few rounds of this game and found it to be quite amusing.

Check it out!

Thanks to DLC for the link. :)

Twelve oz. of randomness

Can't say that I really know what the title's about this time. I just sort of felt like writing, so here I am. I was sort of in one of those moods again last night (Saturday) - where I feel stuck. That got resolved within a few hours of its onset though...so it's alright. Lesson learnt: I should try to have faith and not fear.

Anyway, so about my first clubbing experience at Distrikt this past Friday. Let's backtrack to roughly 9:30 p.m. I tried to work as fast as I could on this huge shark dissection, and I can say that it was quite the success. We finished at 9:20 and proceeded to clean up. I was out of there and at Jo's rez soonafter. I packed up my stuff, and we headed downstairs to where Kev was waiting for us. Got to Kev's place and started to get ready. Deciding that I didn't need a shower (seeing as how I'd taken one a mere 6 hours ago), I got changed, popped in the contacts, threw on some paste (which is what I like to call makeup), and headed out. By this time, it was already 10:30 or so.

Traffic on the way down was pretty cruddy. Weird lane-squeezing and such was happening. We drove around and finally parked on a small street off of Queen. During the walk over to the club, we met up with a bunch of other people; Khoa, Grace, Sopheak, Teena, André, Jason, etc. As we were waiting in the "VIP" line, we apparently were let in fairly promptly. I really don't have a past experience to compare to, so I wouldn't know. I'm still quite surprised that they let me, considering I used my passport as identification. The picture is from way back in Grade 9, I was wearing contacts that night, and my face shape wasn't even the same back then. Hrm, oh well. As long as I got in. :)

It was kinda weird just beyond the point where we got patted down. We'd all entered blindly without receiving tickets from the bouncers...so when we got up to the ticket-collector, we stood around trying to figure out what to do. Luckily, the guy was cool and just let us through anyway. Turns out that he was Sheeeellen's friend. Heh. Small world.

We got into the club and found everyone else. The rest of the night was good times. The drinks loosened me up after a while - I wasn't too keen on dancing initially, but eventually I just didn't care. At least no one was taping like at last year's wedding...LOL! Anyway, so I figured that most people probably weren't looking, or looked just as silly as me trying to dance. Heh!

At one point throughout the night, I went to the washroom with Jo to wash our hands (or moreso, 'cuz she wanted to). I was alright then; just walked down the stairs and went to the washroom. The only thing I noticed was that my hearing was muffled and all messed up. We made our way back upstairs and continued to party. Then came the point where I really had to use the bathroom. I'd had two rum and cokes and a beer, so my bladder was exploding. So yes, off to the stairs I went, and as I descended I was like "Whoa...the stairs are floating. Hrmmm....that shouldn't be happening..." LOL! So yes, I made sure to hang onto the railings tightly as I made my way to the washroom. Now for the actual washroom experience. As most females might know (maybe even some of you male readers too!), most ladies squat while using public washrooms. So here I was, squatting in my heels (which already wasn't a good idea), when I decided to look up. Now that definitely was not a good idea at all. The next thing I knew, I was teetering backwards and about to fall into the toilet. Hahahaha! Luckily, I reached out in time and grabbed hold of the coat hook on the stall's door. I did, however, manage to give the entire set of stalls a good shake down. Upon grasping the coat hook, all you could hear was a domino effect of violent shaking throughout the attached stalls. WHOOPS?! =S

I was still really thirsty when I got back to the dancefloor, but I also realized that more booze would probably be a bad idea...so Kev and I went to get bottled water at the bar instead. The five of us (Jo, Brian, Terry, Kev, and I) left around 3 a.m. or so (?). While walking to the car, on Queen, some dude asked Kev and I where he could possibly find prostitutes. LOL! Okayyyy....now that's just weird. I pointed him in the direction of the clubs. Haha! Kev wasn't feeling super, so we hung around the adjacent park for a bit....then made our way back uptown. I was pretty hungry by the time we got home, so Brian, Terry and I fried up some bacon and eggs...while enjoying it with an episode Family Guy...before calling it a night. I headed upstairs, talked with Kev til 7:00, and finally decided that I should sleep 'cuz a headache was setting in.

The Bradford tournament didn't happen for me. I couldn't drag myself out of bed a half hour later when Brian came in to wake me up. So yea, I stayed in bed all day sleeping til 2 p.m. or so. Oh, then I also spent the rest of the day sleeping...on and off. Showered around 6:50 p.m., and then we all headed out to Korean BBQ. The wait was pretty darn long. It's always so busy there. We even tried walking across Highway 7 to see how busy Walker Hill was...and that place was packed too. Anyway, Emily from ABC joined us for dinner. We stood outside joking around after dinner 'til it became too cold to bear (at least for me).

So yea, Kev dropped me home...and I was up clearing out the computer and stuff 'cuz I couldn't sleep. So I decided to talk on the phone around 3 and didn't sleep til..maybe...4? Woke up for church today and bumped into my grandparents! =) I haven't seen them in so long. I'm never around when they all head out to dinner and such. I'm always working or have class or something. =( Had Shanghai food at Metro for lunch, then headed to Market to do some grocery shopping and have Chinese dessert! I passed out during the ride home, and when I actually got home, I plunked myself down at my desk in my room and just passed out again - jacket and all. I finally awoke around 3:00 from a bad dream (argh!) and groggily went downstairs to the computer. I swung by work around 5:30 to pick up my schedule and drop off my holiday availability, then came home to pick up my mom and Joe for dinner. We headed out for a quick bite at Congee Wong, and now I'm home again.

I think I've blogged enough for tonight.

*Rumble*....in the Bronx?

I would go up to the kitchen and scrounge around for food if I wasn't so lazy. Plus, it is almost 4:30, so I probably shouldnt' eat much - if anything at all.

I should be working on this blasted Ecology paper of mine, but I just don't feel like writing it. How much more could this suck? Seriously. The answer is: not much more.

I'm actually QUITE hungry now though. Initially I was going to use the title "Rumbly in my tumbly", or something along those lines, but that's Theresa's...if I remember correctly. Not wanting to steal anyone's phrases...I decided to use the title of a Jackie Chan movie instead (mental picture: Zin cheering right about now). Come to think of it, the late Anita Miu is in that movie too. She had a mullet in that film, and *what* a mullet it was. *cringe* I recently watched the dubbed version of it - there were English voiceovers to it. Jackie decided to be ever-so-"cool" and bask in his Engalishu-awesomeosity - he did his own English dubbing. Because of that, the movie automatically transformed from an action flick to a comedy for me. Haha, I had some good laughs. Of course, I unfortunately didn't get to finish watching it. I guess that'll go under my list of things to do over the Christmas break: finish laughing at Jackie Chan.

My neck area...the part where it joins onto my shoulders...is getting to be quite sore. Yea, I'm supposed to be a Bio major and yet I'm referring to body parts by saying: "Yea, you know...that part that's...curvy...and has got skin..and some pores too maybe? It's got some bones underneath...and I think that flesh might be lining that?" Hahah. Thank goodness I don't aspire to go into Med. You wouldn't want to visit my clinic. Or, would you?? =P I can guarantee an interesting prognosis each time...hahaha! So yea, getting back to my neck. It's sore. I've been at the computer all of today. I didn't go to WMST because I didn't have the essay completed - meaning there was no point in going - so I had nothing to submit. I've been toiling away at my Ecology paper all day. This things seems like it's going nowhere. Help me. *whimpers*

Lately I've been digging out my OLD MP3's again...out from the depths of backup and storage CD's. It's nice to listen to songs again that I might've really liked in the past at some point in time, then went overboard with listening to it and killed it, then decided to back it up and not touch it for many months. One tune would be Jaci Velasquez - Come As You Are. I don't know if I had sent this to anyone else, but Anne has got to know this one. It was one of those Gr.12 songs - it was definitely on repeat. =)

Speaking of Grade 12...while taking extended breaks from essay-writing (if you could even call it that for me), I've had plenty of time to sit and just think. I've been reflecting back on the Wasaga trip, and prom. Those were some some amazing times. Luckily, lots of pictures were taken (guess who went camera happy?). With all 500 Wasaga photos, it'll be pretty hard to forget any of the key moments from that week. My meat pile that stacked tall and proud, making bubbletea at 2 a.m., cooking in a bathing suit, killing insects with the zappy racquet, SHAMOO, questionable hot tub pictures, 12-minute ab workouts followed by Cheetos snacking (hahaha!), curly fries midnight snacks, being caught red handed for sleeping during Monopoly, listening to Coldplay during dinner, rationing of food and the purpose that it served (LOL!), invading the pool and playing games, meeting the scary John man and his daughters, being fed turkey drumstick and Calbee chips while in the hot tub (talk about 5-star service!), mango jello in wine glasses, first-aid treatment for a deep gash in the thumb, gigantic spiders at the bridge railings, seeing the Northern lights, Joyce telling off those two guys who tried to hit on us, me chasing bats around the beach at night, 4 people squeezing onto a King bed, apple pie with vanilla ice cream, breaking the spatula while making brownies, henna tattoos, etc. The list is pretty much non-exhaustive. I could go on forever....

Prom was...prom. It was fun, but there are some things that I would rather not look back on. Haha! *ahem* turning red *ahem* One lesson that I definitely learned tough - those La Senza something Wings bras are so incredibly un-comfortable. See, guys get it easy when they have to dress up for formal occasions. Sure, they have to throw on a dress shirt, possibly a vest, a tie, a jacket, and some slacks. Women have to wear crazy "special" bras with long dresses and hairdos that don't move 'cuz they're encrusted in 60 litres of sparkly hairspray. Anyway, so back to the La Senza bra. Talk about uncomfortable. I think back on it now, and I don't even know where it is - *phew*. I wouldn't want to have to wear that thing again. Adhesive tape around your sides for 6+ hours is not what I would call a fun time. The afterparty was cool though. The limo ride was sweet. Ping pong and alcohol don't mix. Gorging on chicken fingers at 3 a.m. is totally cool, especially if you had a cruddy "formal" dinner many hours prior. Hrm...good times, good times. =)

Okay, that's enough with the nostalgia already. Hopefully I'll get a chance to go back to the Abbey and visit before they let out for Christmas break. My last exam is on the 21st this year; killer Animal biology lab exam that will last for 6 hours. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 3 p.m. Hehe! =P Then it's parrrrrrrrrrrrrtyyy time!

Speaking of party...
this weekend will be fun! Gonna hit up Distrikt after my shark dissection (of all things) to see Thu one last time before he departs for Taiwan. Then it's off to Bradford on Saturday to play in a badminton tournament. Now to get these essays done first....

S-ank you

I just checked up on the dondon blog. I've fallen behind with the posting, yet again. I am now 11 days behind. Oh dear....

Anyway, I'll do a brief one here instead...just to make my life easier when I'm typing up the other blog's massive post in about a week's time or so.

On Saturday, I went for Shanghai food with Iola at Metro. It was good to just chill out and catch up. She dropped me off at Pacmall afterwards, where I took my new Ultra Low Rise jeans to get altered. Kev picked me up afterwards, and we headed up to FMP to buy 10 packs of Yonex grap. Of course, we can't forget the ice cream now. We walked over to the small junk food store that I'd purchased King's ice cream from previously, only to discover that they didn't have any mango left. Hence, we made our way down two shops into Ding Dong's to successfully find a 1-L tub of King's mango ice cream. We just plowed through it on our way over to Bayview Village. I picked up my schedule and dropped off my YUBC tournament letter to Brandon. Then we headed over to Shoppers and picked up a lot of random items. We stopped by Angela's house so that I could retrieve a textbook, then off to Nobleton we went! Dinner was delicious; Karl made onion roasted potatoes, bourbon- and maple syrup- soaked squash, and smoked brisket and beef flank. Oh man, it was so good. On top of that, we had strawberry cheesecake for dessert!!! Before leaving, we drove down to the field to look at the stars. It was a very cold but clear night out. We almost drove over a crazy skunk on the way down to the field. Heh! Skunks are so funny when they run - their fat rears just wiggle and woggle from side to side as they try to run with their short little legs. LOL! =P The sight was amazing (the stars...NOT the skunk's rear). I just wish it hadn't been so cold; I was shaking uncontrollably after being outside for 2 minutes!

Someone fainted at mass yesterday. It was somewhat weird - someone had fainted at Christmas mass last year as well. Maybe they just fell asleep and didn't know - I mean, I do it all the time. No biggy. I went for Shanghai food AGAIN, at the same place that I'd gone to with Iola yesterday, with family. Joe and I went to TenRen's and bought a large green tea slush. mMmm - it's like drinking green tea ice cream! I picked up my jeans from Pacmall, and we swung into Market to pick up some groceries. Back home we went, and I took a quick shower. Grace arrived, and we headed out to Square One in Mississauga to do some crazy shopping at GapBODY. We ended up buying $190 worth of merchandise, even with a 30% discount. Oi. We headed out to Moxie's and met up with Kev, Thu, and friends. It was a good dinner, even though everyone ate at different times. We started off with calamari for an appetizer. Kev and I split two 12" pizzas - Tandoori Chicken and Classic. He bought me a strawberry banana margarita (giddyness ensued!), and I also ordered a Coke. I was pretty darn full by the end of the night. I had to head home and get some work done, so we unfortunately couldn't stick around and go to karaoke/bubbletea with Thu and the gang. We decided to hit up Second Cup at Bayview and Steeles on the way home. You're right; there's something about that coffee shop that makes me talk about negative crap.

Anyway, time to get back to the lab report. I've taken a long enough break....

Frustrated

Man, it has been quite a sh*tty week if there ever was one. I've just been so stressed out with, well, almost everything.

Guides - With Cathie's husband having had a heart attack recently, she did not attend this week's meeting. Instead, Karen Baksi came to help us out for enrolment. It was somewhat scary to hear Gail ponder the idea that Cathie may not be all here this year. Apparently this happened last year after Julie's parents passed away. She was sort of in this spaced-out kind of state for the rest of the year. She'd forget to do things, or not really care, and such. Oh joy. This is going to be a fun ride...

Ecology - The labs are getting to be pretty aggravatingly annoying. This past Tuesday, Labs 3-5 were due as one report. They were supposed to be condensed and submitted together. I didn't start it until Tuesday evening, and I was totally exhausted. I eventually gave up around 2:30 and just went to bed. I decided to use my one-week-extension-coupon for the course on this one particular lab. It was probably a bad idea, seeing as how I have a research essay due this coming Wednesday. It'd probably be much wiser to use it on that. D'oh...

Women's Studies - Ah, the course that I commonly refer to as WMST on the dondon blog. Anyway, so I haven't been to this class for about 3 weeks now. Maybe more? It's a bad habit, but Wednesday is really the only day of the week that I really enjoy. My weekdays are always spent.....rushing. That's the first word that comes to mind, and it fits quite appropriately. My weekends are spent working and....well, more rushing. So yea, I have a research paper due for WMST this coming Wednesday as well. Yep, you got that right. It's due on the same day as the Ecology research paper. Lovely, ain't it? I had decided that this week, I shall go to class. Guess what happens early Wednesday afternoon? My cellphone rings while I'm at Kev's place, and it's none other than my mom. She was calling to inform me that the WMST department had called my house to tell me that class was cancelled for the evening; my professor had fallen ill. Of all frickin' bloody nights for her to get sick, it just had to be THIS Wednesday. Awesome. Just super. I really shouldn't be b*tchin' about this though. I mean, it's my own fault for missing WMST all these past weeks. Then again, I'm also glad I did. I wouldn't trade it for anything...

Biochem - Even with the few classes that I have been to for this course, I know that my prof is a flake. Not only did I realize it, but Mish, as well as some other students in my class, have too. I just really don't appreciate how he's so random. He doesn't follow the textbook. More than half the time, he likes to jump from one subject to another - none of which have any relation to the previous one taught. It's just so frustrating to think of how we're all getting screwed over...

Animals - This is just about the one and onl course that I'm actually enjoying right now. If it weren't so early, I would definitely go more often. Even as a child, I'd always had this keen interest towards animals and wildlife. I would spend hours sitting in front of the TV watching The Discovery Channel, or I would read through volumes of National Geographic. Anyway, if this course didn't involve so much ridiculous memorization of insane terms, I'd be a bit happier. Oh well. Overall, it's still a decent course. I've also got a wicked prof. He's this Scottish man with a ridiculously cool accent...and he tells us about how he worked in a marine biology lab in Asia...and how he's been to Hong Kong and loves the seafood there. Ah, what a cool guy.

Chemistry - I loathe thee. Enough said.

Badminton - I'm so very frustrated with my game. It's been so terrible these past two weeks or so. It's just aggravating when you can't figure out why you're not playing how you "normally" do...time and time again. It's not even the case of having a "bad day" or whatnot anymore. Initially I'd assumed that it was due to lack of sleep. Nopes, that wasn't it. I'm not about to go blaming the racquet, or the grip, or whatever. I've just been stuck in a shotty rut.

Working at the Ga-y - So Kathy left me not long ago. Now Ron has confirmed his resignation and won't be around for much longer. Work is starting to become a real drag. I wish I could relax on my weekends. I wish I didn't have to go in and service other customers for the crap pay that I get. I wish I didnt have to work. I'd rather not work than have my cellphone and those other luxuries. Then again, I know that I'll be stuck working for quite some time. Heck, that's the reality of it all...

Friends - It's been good, but there has been a share of bad. I wish I could make some individuals feel better, and I wish I could just tell some to screw off and get lost. You meet so many people throughout life...many of them being pleasant individuals, but there are those who are not so much. That's not my main point though. I've watched a few of my friends suffering this past while....months, weeks, days? Death, break-ups, loneliness, hardships....and there really isn't anything I can do but try and be there. I feel so utterly helpless....

Fear of the future - I spent about two hours earlier tonight at Second Cup chatting with Michelle over hot chocolate. I feel like I'm stuck. What am I going to do? What shall I do? What am I supposed to do? Prevalent, and yet answer-less, questions that have been floating around for what seems to be an eternity now. I don't think I'm going to elaborate a lot on this one. There's far too much to say.

There are a few things that still keep me going right now though...so onward I will trudge.

Cover or original?

It's quite common nowadays for songs to be re-done by another artist. Here's one that comes to mind: Behind Blue Eyes was originally done by The Who, but I definitely prefer the cover done by Limp Bizkit. Right about now, I can see Dan and Kev cringing with disgust already.

Anyway, so why do I bring this up, you ask? I've been listening to this one song non-stop. If I hadn't asked Kev though, I wouldn't have known that (Sir) Paul McCartney did the original, and that the version I prefer is a merely a cover. Hrm, either way, it's a good song. Joe downloaded it because it was from the O.C. season finale. Anyhoo, I think you should all give it a listen. It's a great tune; very "pretty". It certainly moves me when I listen to it. Maybe it'll have the same effect for you?

Jem - Maybe I'm Amazed

Maybe I'm Amazed At The Way You Love Me All The Time
Maybe I'm Afraid Of The Way I Love You
Maybe I'm Amazed At The Way You Pulled Me Out Of Time
And Hung Me On A Line
Maybe I'm Amazed At The Way I Really Need You

Maybe I'm A Girl And Maybe I'm A Lonely Girl
Who's In The Middle Of Something
That She Doesn't Really Understand

Maybe I'm A Girl And Maybe You're The Only Man
Who Could Ever Help Me
Baby Won't You Help Me Understand

Maybe I'm A Girl And Maybe I'm A Lonely Girl
Who's In The Middle Of Something
That She Doesn't Really Understand

Maybe I'm A Girl And Maybe You're The Only Man
Who Could Ever Help Me
Baby Won't You Help Me Understand

Maybe I'm Amazed At The Way You're With Me All The Time
Maybe I'm Afraid Of The Way I Leave You
Maybe I'm Amazed At The Way You Help Me Sing My Song
Right Me When I'm Wrong
Maybe I'm Amazed At The Way I Really Need You

Eventful, but not...eh?

Not a lot has been happening lately, but also a lot has. Have I lost you already? Are you scratching your head right now and going "HUH?" Heh!

I worked on Saturday and hopped onto cash for two transactions! LOL! I was totally confused cuz I'd forgotten a good bunch of the cash stuff that I'd learned. Awesome, eh? =S I almost forgot to give one lady her credit card back. Anyway, I got off work at 2:30, went to Staples to photocopy a bunch of notes, and then chilled with Kev for the entire day. =)

Sunday was pretty uneventful, but nice and relaxing all the same. I went to church, then lunch with family, which followed by some grocery shopping; none of which I'd done for quite some time now. Eating with family feels foreign. That's pretty wrong if you ask me. Anyway, I spent the rest of the day clearing out my computer and just sitting in the basement. That too felt somewhat foreign. It dawned on me that I have not been home, on a weekend, in the afternoon for at least a month now? It also felt weird going out to dinner with the parents. It was nice though, in the end. Just the three of us. Hrm...

Just now, for a second, I thought I'd gone to Ecology on Monday. Hah. Who am I trying to kid here? YUBC was pretty slow. Jo bought me a cream of brocolli soup from Timmy Ho's. Aww...thank you! Shirley took me home, and then I headed out to Guides. We had the enrolment ceremony, and I was officially enrolled! I've got my Guides and Guider pins now on my new leader shirt! Hehe!

Today was a pretty bleh type of day. I was up until what felt like really late hours, but in actuality it was only 2 a.m. or so. I was snoozing left and right, and finally gave up when I was ordered to bed. =S So yea, I didn't submit the triple lab report. I'm going to use the one-week-extension-no-questions-asked coupon and submit it next week. We had to crack open goldenrod galls and observe fly larvae for the Ecology lab today. Ugh. We finished early, and I decided to grab a snack at Central Square. I got a hot chocolate from Timmy Ho's, and a slice from Pizza Pizza. It was SO good. I haven't had pizza in SO long. Anyhoo, I wrote my chem test after that...then met up with KBT to head back to the house. We headed out to Aurora soon after for badminton. It was pretty packed; didn't get a lot of games in. Boo! =(

Now imagine that

Can you believe it? I actually went to class this morning. This cycle must be jinxed or something though. Each time that I go to class, Brian doesn't...and vice versa. Does that go to say that if Brian stops going to class, then I'll go all the time? Hah. Nice try. =P

I must confess that I dozed off for a little bit during Ecology though. I woke up to find this girl staring at me - she was sitting in the row in front of me and just gave me the oddest look. I don't think she has any right to stare! Before I dozed off, I caught her sleeping too!!

I'm so tired right now. I've played so much badminton this week, and I've been lacking sleep. I think I ought to hit the hay now. I've got work at 9 a.m. D'oh!

Anyway, I'm cash-trained now, so hopefully the day will go by faster!

So yea, I've had a really good day, from morning 'til end - minus the Ecology and the Animals lab. =)
