stones taught me to fly
love, it taught me to lie
life taught me to die
so it's not hard to fall
when you float like a cannonball

O.C. in the Hizzy!

Okay, I don't normally use that line, but it seems to be a favourite of Joe's whenever he's psyched up about the O.C.

The season premiere is on September 8th, for all you fans out there!

I've seen three previews so far that were released by Fox. It looks exciting! Who's going to take the fall for Marissa? Is Trey going to die (he's in a coma)?? What happens to Kirsten in rehab?! Ahhh! LOL!

Anyway, just before going to bed last night I wandered down to the front foyer so I could get the TSO Single Ticket handbook, only to discover that a piece of mail for me that was sitting there. I looked at the sender's address and it said "Peter Gallagher". I'm like "Hrmm...that sounds familiar? Who is he again........??" I read onward. "Beverly Hills, 90210.".................OMG. That's when it dawned on me. Peter Gallagher plays the character of Sandy Cohen!! I quickly ripped open the package to discover an autographed portrait! Sweeeeeeeeeeeet, I thought to myself. I mean, I do recall wandering over to his official website a few months ago, and I think I'd sent in some request for an autograph, just for kicks. I can't believe they actually sent it though. The only autographed portrait I have now, aside from this one, was the 98 Degrees one that I'd gotten during high school when Universal mailed it to me.

Heeeeeehehhe!!

O.C. in the Hizzy!!!

Now THAT is some tasty java!

A coffee has never tasted finer than it did this morning.

I had intended on going to bed early last night, but Joe kept me up past 1 a.m. hunting for spiders/bugs to kill with the new mosquito-zapping racquet. He wanted to search every nook and cranny in hopes of finding insects to zap and fry. What an evil little tortorous kid.

I thought that the otherrrrr morning was bad, but today was just brutal. On the subway, I passed out the second my butt touched the seat at Finch Station, and I didn't wake up until Union. Thank goodness I actually woke up. Otherwise I would've been even more later for work.............

Anyway, since it was beyond 9:00 a.m. and I wasn't going to be paid until 9:15 a.m, I decided to stop by Cultures for some breakfast. Upon stepping through the door, the wonderful aroma of different coffees wafted through the air, and I knew then that I couldn't say no.

I got a toasted bagel with peanut butter, and a large hazelnut vanilla coffee with lots of sugar and cream. It was sooooooooooo smooth and tasty. It definitely made my morning bearable. *phew*

Sizzle my wizzle!

Wahahha! It's fast-approaching, yet still not fast enough! Here's a preview of what I'll be doing on Friday!!!

Did I mention that it's with some great ladies too?!??? The countdown to Friday's party begins!!!! This is all I'm going to think about at work! LOL!

Merci beaucoup!

A big thanks to Steph Chow for helping me realize that I can upload pics without needing an offsite host! I never bothered posting pics on my blogs because it was too much trouble to upload them elsewhere, link them, etc. Now it's uber easy! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Isn't this tacky?

I found an old screenshot that I took of my desktop as I was chatting online with Zin. Looking at it now, do you know what I realized? MSN needs new default backgrounds. The one you see below is just so......how do you put it? Cheesy. It's fantastic! Hehe! :P

Chilly

Wow, the temperature is dipping here in Toronto. After Friday's crazy storm that caused major flooding in many parts of the city, it was an overcast and dreary day on Saturday. Nonetheless, the rain held out and Grace's BBQ was oodles of fun. Another bonus - that I didn't get in trouble for getting home at 2 a.m. My mom knew that I got in late, but I don't think she knew exactly how late. Hee-hee!

Anyway, the weather yesterday was pretty nice. It was pretty toasty in the car during the afternoon, mainly because the sun was out. There was still a cool breeze blowing though. In the evening, after dinner around 10 p.m., it had definitely cooled down. I was standing in my driveway with Joe as we talked to the cool dog-walking lady in my neighbourhood and I got goosebumps!

Speaking of the dog-walking lady - I've been meaning to write a short post about her for quite some time now but I seem to have forgotten each time. Anyway, she's a small Indian lady. Well, at least I think she's Indian. She's not much taller than I am. Every day, whether it be during the daytime or in the evening, I see her crisscrossing through my neighbourhood's adjacent streets as she speed-walks with her dogs by her side. She's got two big golden retrievers. The elder's name is Trevor (11 years old), and then there's Klondike (5 years). Joe and my mom have chatted with her on numerous occasions before as she walks past our house. I normally only see her while sitting in the car. Last night though, she stopped to talk and tell us about the knee-deep flooding that occurred at her place on Friday. She said that the same thing happened roughly 5 years ago. Poor lady. What a mess she has to deal with.

I woke up this morning not wanting to get out of bed. It was so warm and comfy beneath the covers. I finally dragged my butt out of bed after having hit the Snooze button far too many times. I took a nice warm shower and got ready for work. I turned on 680 News to hear the weather forecast before heading out - it was 16 Celsius!! That's definitely cool for August in Toronto. Anyway, I'm sitting in the office with a hoodie on now. Before you know it, it'll be time to break out the winter jacket! Pretty, pretty, snow! Yes, it'll be bitterly cold. Yes, it sucks to shovel snow. Yet, there's something about snow....around Christmas-time....that really sets the mood. Okay, now I really want to watch "Serendipity" again. For those who have seen it, you should know what I'm referring to. Well, that's all for now.

P.S. I had McDonald's for lunch and now it's sitting in me. I should have gotten quiche or something instead......

Procrastination outside of the office

That's right - I actually DO post outside of the office. I didn't really get a chance to even contemplate typing up an entry at work today. It was crazy busy with ticket packaging, pulling tickets, people who don't understand the words "SOLD OUT", etc. Oh well. It's good to be back and doing something.

Update on the arm - so I went to talk to the doc earlier this week. She wrote up a referral for me to do physiotherapy. This is sooo going to cost me.

Anyway, the purpose of this post was not to update on my weekly routine. I'll do that later on when I have more time. I was clearing out my many e-mail inboxes just now and I found this and felt like sharing it. I'm sure many of you have read this before already, but it never hurts to post it for the select few who haven't.

Enjoy!

20 Ways to Maintain a Healthy Level of INsanity
  1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.
  2. Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice.
  3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.
  4. Put your garbage can on your desk and label it "In".
  5. Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks. Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.
  6. In the Memo field of all your cheques, write "For sexual favours".
  7. Finish all your sentences with "In accordance with the prophecy".
  8. Dont use any punctuation
  9. As often as possible, skip rather than walk.
  10. Ask people what sex they are. Laugh hysterically after they answer.
  11. Specify that your drive-thru order is "To-go".
  12. Sing along at the opera.
  13. Go to a poetry recital and ask why the poems don't rhyme.
  14. Put mosquito netting around your work area and play tropical sounds all day.
  15. Fives days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you're not in the mood.
  16. Have your co-workers address you by your wrestling name, Rock Hard.
  17. When the money comes out of the ATM, scream "I won! I won!!"
  18. When leaving the zoo, start running towards the parking lot, yelling "Run for your lives! They're loose!!"
  19. Tell your children over dinner, "Due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go."

And the final way to keep a healthy level of insanity....

.....and they always tell you to send out this e-mail to the world, but yeaaaaa yeaaaaaa...whatever.

Tick tock

So the wait begins.............

This is no fun. :(

You've got some nerve

Some persons really should use more discretion before posting blog entries, as they in turn step on others' toes and insult them. Action and reaction. It's how the world works. You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. So watch what you say/write. Now piss off.

Back to old habits

Uh-oh. I've once again fallen behind in posting....*sigh*

The last time I posted about recent events was Wednesday, July the 27th.

To finish off that day (the 27th), I stayed at work until 5:15. I can't remember what happened after that.

I was scheduled to work from 8:45 to 5:00 on the 28th. Instead I worked 1:30 to 5:15. What happened after that, again, I do not remember.

I worked from 9:00 to 5:15 on Friday the 29th. Kev came down to the office to pick me up after work, and we roamed Queen Street for a while in search of the Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop. We finally found it by the Tea Shop 168 store near MuchMusic. We met up with his friend Rob around 7:00 p.m. and the three of us watched the Jays vs. Texas Rangers game! We lost, but oh well. It was fun!

On Saturday the 30th, a small emergency arose. Agnes wanted to go out the door with me. Little did she know that I was supposed to be heading out of town, just for the day, up to the cottage. I'd told her that I was going downtown, so I guess she assumed that I was about to TTC it. Luckily I convinced her that we were going by car and had to pick some other people up near the area that she needed to be at. We ended up driving her to Empress. We drove up to Coboconk for the day to spend some time with his family, as well as his brother and two friends (Simon & Dave, I think??). We had steak for dinner too! After all that talk about steak, I miraculously got one! Woo-hoo! Anyway, we came back into town and went to Richmond Court to get take-out milk tea before heading to the Seneca Hill Public School parking lot to just chat. It was nuts because we saw a CRAZY meteor or comet or something that made the entire sky by my neighbourhood light up! It was SO cool! Plus we saw the good ol' skunk again. Heh! That thing really likes me. :( Either way, it was nice to just chat like old times. The summer has been so hectic that there's no time to just talk and relax. It hasn't necessarily been a bad type of hectic or anything, but you know how it's sometimes nice to just wake up, throw on a pair of sweats, tie back the hair into a ponytail and bum around the house wandering and doing nothing? Yea. That's what I'm talking about. :) That long weekend of bumming and relaxation ensued one week later (keep reading).

The Civic holiday long weekend was pure sh*t. I nearly died trying to get through those few days. It was a difficult one, and it hurt a lot. Thank goodness it's over, that's all I've got to say. A briefing of the Sunday - church, home, MSN = bad, family BBQ at uncle's house, followed by bubbletea and shooting pool at Iola's house. It's equally difficult to shoot pool when your vision is super blurred from tired eyes and wearing contact lenses. Sounds COMFORTABLE, eh? - when you feel like gauging your eyes out with your fingers....

Everyone had the Monday off (the 1st of AUGUST) because of Civic holiday. I went to dim sum with Agnes and the entire family. We came home after that to watch Ocean's 11. I was half-watching, half-MSNing. We had dinner at Jade Dynasty couresy of Karen since she wouldn't be seeing Aunty Agnes off at the airport the next day. We watched Million Dollar Baby after dinner, and I ended up being online and up until 5:30 a.m. Again, this weekend sucked monkey balls.

I was supposed to work Tuesday from 8:45-5:00 but Kevin gave me the day off. He'd okay-ed it the previous week, which was good. I wanted to see Agnes off at the airport. We had early 10 a.m. dim sum at Jade Dynasty, and then set off to the airport. I went home and chilled with Kev, going over music and compiling CD lists while the family was out of town in Kingston to see Karen's potential apartment. We hit up Imprint Express Inc. afterwards to order Exec t-shirts, followed by Big Al's to look at fishy stuff. This was the day that the Air France flight crashed at the GTAA. Agnes' flight ended up being cancelled and she had to stay an extra night at our place. I didn't go to softball practice because my knee and shoulder were being retarded still.

I called in to work on Wednesday the 3rd so that I could have lunch with Agnes before she returned to Australia. We ate a quick lunch at Congee Wong before TTC-ing downtown together. I showed her to Union Station so that she could board the Airport Express coach back to the GTAA. I made my way into work for 1:00.

I can't remember again what I did on the 4th. I know I didn't go into work. I think my stomach was being stupid. So yea, I missed another full day of work. I can't remember what I did in the evening. I know I stayed home and watched the O.C. with Joe though.

On Friday the 5th I still didn't go in. I went over to the house early in the afternoon. Kev got home from work, freshened up, and we hit up Big Al's. Well, not before I dislocated my shoulder though. Holy CRAP it hurt. OMG. I never want to experience that again. To feel like I didn't have a moveable arm, and to be in such pain, was NOT cool. Anyway, I ended up buying 5 VERY pregnant female guppies from Big Al's, and Justin was there to help us out too. We made a crazy shepherd's pie for dinner, followed by a major fly-swatting session. OMG. I'm going to kill Charley when he comes back to Canada. His sh*tmess of a room is breeding flies and crap all over the house. I'm going to TORCH HIS ROOM SOON!!!

I stayed over at the house for the weekend just to spend some quality and get away for a while. We had pancakes for breakfast on Saturday the 6th. We moved some items around in the house. We diced up half of a 20 lb. watermelon (that's TEN POUNDS of watermelon - HEHEHE!) and blended it into juice. We didn't quite have enough ice to make it into a slushie though. For dinner we grilled up wings and asparagus and a massive zucchini courtesy of Norma. We were going to watch a movie but both of us ended up being way too tired. Instead, we just slept. Well, he slept. I was awake. I have insomnia issues at his house. I don't know WHY. Argh!

Sunday the 7th flew by. We had leftover fried rice and chicken wings for brunch. We spent the afternoon with him trying to teach me to play guitar and me being really bad at playing the drums. I. am. musically. retarded. We made cheesy spaghettini for dinner with onions, carrots, beef, and....stuff?? (I can't remember...) Before I knew it, and all too soon, the weekend was over, and back over to the east end of North York I went. It was nice roaming the house in PJ's all weekend, just kicking back to relax and hang out and do absolutely anything we wanted off the top of our heads. No schedule to stick to. Nothing we had to get done. Just pure relaxing, that felt like anything but an eternity. :( Doing dishes was fun!!!!!! *evil laugh!*

I didn't go in on Monday because my arm was really bugging me. I'd slept on it during the night without knowing and awoke in quite a bit of pain. So yea, I didn't go in to work. I was home all day fishing for baby Chinese Algae Eaters and their eggs. Oh yea, I didn't mention! I've been super UNsuccessful at breeding guppies. Then I come home from a weekend away to find another type of baby fishy all over my tank. I did some quick reading online to discover that these rarely breed too. NICE! Anyway, mom is having allergies and can't eat much according to the Chinese herbalist doctor man who prescribed some really stinkyyyyyyy crap. My room STINKS of nasty-smelling Chinese herbs now. ARGH! Anyway, Joe and I ended up splitting a large pizza from Pizza Hut instead for dinner. I can't remember the last time this happened!!!

Hey, look at that! I'm all caught up!!! Heeehehe!

Today I woke up, showered for work, and came in. I was tempted to get McDonald's for breakfast but refrained from doing so. I didn't want a heart attack, nor did I want to spend money. Instead I had a juice and ate a peanut butter square (which we baked on Sunday - forgot to mention that). I had leftover pizza for lunch, and it's now almost time to get off work. I'm meeting Kev at Finch Stn., we're heading to Imprint Express to get the Exec shirts, followed by a quick stop at Big Al's, and TD, and IKEA. Wheee!!

Tastiness - Part 2

I knew that there were a few more items that I hadn't mentioned two entries ago.

I only have some "not-as-tasty-anymore" foods in mind.

Recently Kev and I were roaming in Fairview and decided to buy a snack from the food court. The first thing that came to mind for me was good ol' saltiness. The next thing that came to mind was Pretzelmaker. I remember, back in the day, when I used to buy two for $5. It might've been a promotion? I think they cost more than that nowadays. After much deliberation (and after being forced to pick the flavour/variety/restaurant/, like any and all other situations - LOL!), I decided on "regular" - butter and salt. Hrm, maybe the pretzel wasn't fresh? Maybe it didn't have enough butter? I'm not quite sure. All I knew was that it really wasn't tasty at all. I was expecting a soft, chewy, salty, buttery, melt in your mouth-ish piece of twisted carbs...........NOT, well, what I actually bit into. Hmmm....maybe it's because I've moved on and there are tastier things in life (like LAMB!!).

Speaking of Fairview Mall, one of my favourite places to buy a snack at when I was a kid was the Baskin Robbins. It's only about 2-3 units down from Pretzelmaker, come to think of it. Anyway, the simplicity of vanilla and/or chocolate ice cream never used to wow me like it does nowadays (as they complement other dessert items SO VERY WELL!). My favourite flavour, up until Gr.9 or 10-ish even, had been Jamocha Almond Fudge. There was something about the almonds, and the fudge swirl, with the coffee/vanilla-y-ish ice cream that made it good. The past few times that I've had it.........bleh. It just gradually grew to be far too sweet after a few spoons. Baskin Robbins' chocolate blasts are ALSO gross. I'm warning everyone now! They're not good. Their chocolate shakes are too sweet too! Well, at least the one I had in Kingston was. If you want a GOOOOOD chocolate shake you should go to Ben & Jerry's. I've had one from Wasaga Beach, and two from the Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop on Queen Street where Tea Shop 168 is. DON'T get bubbletea from 168 though - their drinks are FAR from spectacular! Support TenRen's, even if it's overpriced. Their drinks are goooooood!

Last, but not least, are McDonald's hash browns. I've certainly had my fair share of McDonald's food in this lifetime. Even back in the days of St.Tim's, when my dad would bring Joe/Karen/Loretta/I lunch on his days off........McDonald's it was, or Pizza Hut, or Harvey's. That's when the sandwiches at McDee's weren't the size of NOTHINGNESS and ONE meal actually filled me (mind you, I also ate significantly less back then, but that's besides the point). Everyone knows that their sandwiches have shrunk in size - stupid cutbacks! Anyway, it's been quite a while since I last ate a non-breakfast item from them. I don't usually eat their lunch items. However, I still have a weakness for their Sausage 'n Egg McMuffin. That's not the focus of this paragraph though (yea, I should really get to the point). McDonald's hash browns are what I need to talk about. Those crispy, greasy little buggers used to taste better. When smothered in ketchup and sprinkled with a bit of pepper, they were like greasy golden heaven melting in my mouth. Now they just taste like a greasy heart attack in my mouth. Oh well. I guess that's good enough reason not to eat them anymore.

And so concludes my post on food, which I talk about way too often on this blog. Jaded, I'm sure you'd second that. Heh!

Sarah McLachlan - Fallen

It's been a long, hard weekend, and an even darker day for me today. I pray for strength and peace of mind.

Heaven bend to take my hand
And lead me through the fire
Be the long awaited answer
To a long and painful fight

Truth be told I've tried my best
But somewhere along the way
I got caught up in all there was to offer
And the cost was so much more than I could bear

Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I have messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...

We all begin with good intent
Love was raw and young
We believed that we could change ourselves
The past could be undone
But we carry on our backs the burden
Time always reveals
The lonely light of morning
The wound that would not heal
It's the bitter taste of losing everything
That I have held so dear.

I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I have messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...

Heaven bend to take my hand
Nowhere left to turn
I'm lost to those I thought were friends
To everyone I know
Oh they turn their heads embarassed
Pretend that they don't see
But it's one missed step
One slip before you know it
And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed

Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I have messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...[2X]
