stones taught me to fly
love, it taught me to lie
life taught me to die
so it's not hard to fall

Let's give this another go...

Kev inspired me to post an entry on this long-forgotten blog of mine. He was reading posts from a friend's blog, and that somehow lead to my being here.

My first thought was to change the blog name if I were to resurrect this old beast. Of course, I eventually decided against it because, well, I couldn't think of a new name (ha!).

I have since editted out numerous dead links on the sidebar. It seems that, for many, the blogging fad has died out. I hope that there will be many an event in the coming future...otherwise it just might lead to the poor blog's demise again.

The "work schedule" section has also been removed seeing as how I'm unemployed. Can't exactly list a non-existent work schedule, right?

Anyway, for now I should leave this post as it is. I have a final to finish studying for. It's the worst course EVER. Kevin will attest to that. Oh Blogger, forever the procrastination tool...

In my next post, I will write about my upcoming exchange to France. Until then...

Hiatus finally over.....for now

I've been sitting in front of the computer all day surfing around on random sites. I have been inspired to once again post on my beloved blog; the activity that I once could not do without.

I went to see the surgeon yesterday and a surgical date shall be booked for me. Hopefully I'll get a spot for next summer. I wouldn't want to have the operation during the school year - it would interfere with my studies. Plus, popping pain killers during lecture hours won't exactly help me to stay focussed.

Well, I thought that I would have more to write about than this, but I guess not. Not today, anyway. Things haven't been all too interesting lately. I did get the MP3 feature for my phone unlocked yesterday. Now I can finally use .mp3's as my ringtones. I know - it's not SUPER exciting, but the original sound clips that came with the phone were simply driving me mad. At least I have some piece of mind now and won't attempt to silence my phone as quickly as I can each time that it rings.

Kev also purchased a GPS yesterday. I have yet to see it, but from the sounds of it he's really excited - like a child on Christmas morning tearing open his gifts under the tree.

We tried to purchase a Nintendo Wii gaming system at BestBuy yesterday, but to no avail. They were sold out all around town. I guess we'll just have to sit tight and cross our fingers in hopes of getting our hands on the next delivery.

I also attempted to find a new top (or a new outfit) for the upcoming wedding on Saturday, but seemingly didn't have much luck. I tried on practically ALL of RW&Co., Mexx, and Club Monaco...and nothing looked right or fit right. Let's just say that patterns don't look so good on me afterall. Simple. is. good.

Life is playing a cruel joke on me again...

I had my first surgical consult this afternoon. As I sat in the office, the ortho looked over the X-rays that I'd brought him. Seemingly, they displayed nothing but a clean bill of health as far as he was concerned. So, aside from the fact that my left shoulder has dislocated 7 times in the past year or so, "nothing" is wrong with it. Furthermore, because of this lack of severity, they may not operate. How screwed up is that? If they don't cut me up and fix me up, then my shoulder can, and most probably will, continue to dislocate every few months. Of course, in order to be eligible for surgery, this surgeon of mine has to deem my case to be severe enough. Like, come on. I'm not even at the age of a quarter-life crisis and already they won't give me a chance? I don't exactly want to dislocate my shoulder 6 times every year for the rest of my life. Geez.

He then proceeded to check out the films for my lower back, considering the prognosis from my GP was nothing more than an aggravating "You strained it. Here are some meds." Okay doc. That doesn't at ALL explain why I've had chronic back pain since the middle of high school, nor why the pain comes and goes as it pleases...even without the injury from this past summer. Then he broke the news to me. "There's an anomaly in your lower spine. One of your vertebrae is fused, so you have increased limited mobility and are more susceptible to strain. That's the way they decided to make you up there, so there isn't anything you can do." Wow. That's real helpful of you, to joke about something that obviously affects me and not you. Thanks for laughing at the fact that my back is basically screwed for life and that I've got to deal with chronic lower back pain from here on out.

To imagine that one of the key qualities of doctors is compassion.......

Photos so soon?!?!

That's right; I got them done! ENJOY!

Where have I disappeared off to once again?

These past months have been all about keeping busy.

Work was done on the house. New eavestroughs and soffit/fascia. Fixing the foundation. New air conditioner.

There's been lots of fixing up the other house, too. Carpet was laid down in the basement, and is in the process of being re-painted. Area rugs laid down in living room and bedroom. Bunnies about to be relocated. 40 gallon tank set up. Computer/work room entirely re-organized. Garden is in shambles again, but that's last priority at the moment.

Helped the sister move from old place to new place in K-town. As a result of this, the parents now also know about the boyfriend (finally!). All I can say - What a relief!

On the work front, it's been good. Liking the job a lot more now compared to when I used to be there. Hours are slim nowadays since business is slow. Hopefully it'll pick up again. Having fun on the job is all about great co-workers. :) Oh yea, and I dislocated my shoulder (yes, again.....) while scaling shelves in the back. Oh mannnnn was it ever sore. Must remember to be more careful.

Went up to the cottage a few times. Managed to dislocate my shoulder there too while swimming in the lake. Now THAT was freakin' scary. I couldn't move in the water and it was just all so sudden. Luckily I'm okay now. My shoulder's condition is really starting to worry me now though. I mean, exactly how many times "can" I dislocate it before I must go under the knife to tighten things back up? :(

Wasaga beach trip was hella fun! Hopefully I can get some pics up soon! The water was great - sooooo warm!

Summerlicious x 2. Studio Café at the Four Seasons with Janis, Mish, and Hanna. Went to Ménage after that. Luckily we left when we did. It started to POUR after that and we could've gotten DRENCHED.

Wildfire Steakhouse and Wine Bar was for Anne and Mish's joint birthday. Didn't end up going to a lounge afterwards; too full, too far. Instead, we headed down to Janis' condo by the waterfront and hung out. Good times. :)

Bunny update: Jack hurt his foot again from roughing around with Baby. Quite a lot of blood was shed. Silly bunnies. Can't ever teach them to play nicely.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Mushy Mishy!! Ever since we'd ever began talking about career goals, she'd always talked about wanting to become a dentist. Well, guess what?! She's doing it! In fact, she leaves mid-August for Saskatchewan to begin orientation. She'll be greatly missed, but I'm also DEFINITELY very proud of her.

The sister is back from Dryden now after a grueling month up in no-man's-land doing clinical practice. Seems like she had a good time. I didn't hear a whole lot about her rounds at the hospitals, but I certainly did learn that she tried kayaking, wind-surfing, motorcycling, beach volleyball, etc. Now I'm beginning to wonder where she didn't just leave for a month-long vacation...........

Went to the Jays vs. Yankees game on the 21st. Good game, and we ended up getting free pizza from the strikeouts! Woo-hoo! 3rd ROW seats, baby!! Thanks to Rob for the tickets!

If I have time in the next few days (or weeks..........), I'll upload photos from some of the aforementioned events.

Hope everyone is having a safe and happy summer!

Good laughs

Thanks to Mish for this funny bit.

It's a pretty long video (15 minutes), so be patient.

If it won't load, go to YouTube.com and search for "Yellow Fever".

Unsatisfactory munchies

I've been laying off of the potato chips for quite some time now. Strolling through the supermarket aisles, I would actually find myself grabbing a bag or two off the shelves, taking them home, and then not touching them.

I was at T&T the other day and it happened to be just before dinnertime...hence I was famished. Passing the chip aisle, I couldn't help but be curious about all those crazy Asian flavours. I mean, you have the normalcy of ketchup, BBQ, all-dressed, sour cream and onion, etc. When you go to an Asian market though, there's seaweed, and curry, and wasabi, and spicy chicken, and the list goes on!!

Two flavours caught my eye; pizza and gyoza - the latter being a Japanese dumpling.

Well, I finally tried both of them tonight (yep, I actually BOUGHT the chips and ended up EATING them!). WHAT A LETDOWN THEY WERE!

The pizza chips just smelled....well, funky. They were supposed to be flavoured with gouda cheese, cheddar cheese, and....I think....pepperoni-like stuff? I dunno. It was just weird and made me super thirsty. You can always count on the MSG in there, I guess.

The gyoza chips smelled pretty good, I must admit. They didn't taste like anything in particular though...especially not pan-fried dumplings. They had a slight bite to them...and again, more saltiness.

The worst part of it all? They were both SUPER dinky bags (not that I would've wanted to eat more anyway), AND they cost $1.99 each. What a rip.

I'm going back to my good ol' Ketchup Lay's and Humpty Dumpty Onion Rings...if I ever get around to consuming them.
